The temple was built in 1992 and is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. 6,000 tonnes of pink sandstones were used to build this 10 storied temple and its 93 sculpted pillars. Adalaj Step Well, the architectural marvel, is situated about 15 kms from the capital on the National Highway. This well is famous for its unique architecture with a huge artistic edifice and a flight of steps that enables one to reach the water, whatever be its level. Not only is this park the second largest dinosaur-egg hatchery in the world, but it also houses skeletons of gigantic mammals like the blue whale! Set behind the Sabarmati river and popular for its Bandhani Sarees, the Craftsman Village in Gandhinagar is visited by hundreds of tourists and shoppers every day. Sarees and dresses are hand printed and decorated with wooden printing blocks in vivacious colours and exported from here to various countries like Singapore too.

The wooden blocks, with exquisite patterns carved on them, are used for the hand-printing of cloth.
